SWEDSPAN Giriu Bizonas

The activities of SWEDSPAN Giriu Bizonas date back to 1897. After restructuring, the former sawmill was transformed first into a woodworking plant and later into the base for the state-owned enterprise Egle, which became Giriu Bizonas in 1994. The company's business activities concentrate on particle board production and faced wood particle board production. The company currently has around 200 employees.

In 2005, the project "Implementing innovative wood-board-production technologies to form north-west Europe's biggest furniture-manufacturing network" was developed. Part of the technical project was to build a new production line in collaboration with a german machinery supplier. The new wood particle board production line was commissioned in April 2007. The company has belonged to the SWEDSPAN Group since 10 December 2008; there are plans to increase the output of particle boards as well as upgrated components.
